Field data of the German National Forest Inventory
The field data of the fourth National Forest Inventory (BWI 2022) and the previous inventories (BWI 2012 and Carbon Inventory 2017) are public available in the form of a RESTful API for use by third parties.
The URL above is an open standard programming interface and is not intended for use with a web browser. It is provided to be used with a programming language that supports HTTP requests (e.g., R, Excel-VBA, Python, JavaScript, etc.). Such requests (API calls) can be implemented to retrieve, filter and combine data for various inventory objects.
Examples of usage and documentation of the interface are also public available on GitHub.
Simple graphical interfaces (jump
start pages) are provided to help
getting started easier:
Jump
start into field
data inventory archive
Jump
start into
metadata (key tables)
The jump start pages above use
slightly modified OpenAPI
description documents which
can be found here:
OpenAPI
document for the inventory archive
OpenAPI
document for the key database
To use the API and the jump start pages, an API key is needed. This key can be found on GitHub.
